The Basics:

My name is Seth Ethan Wilson, I was named for both of my grandfathers (Seth Charles Wilson and Philip Ethan King). On July 19, 1977, I was born at a very young age to a swarthy tribe of Eskimo women(just kidding, mom) in the little town of Springfield, MO to my mother (Connie Joan (King)Wilson) and my father (Seth Carl Wilson).

I think all of my problems started when I was 4 and one of the people I looked up to asked me how old I was. Naturally I told him, and he said, 'Well, when I was your age, I was five.' From that day on, I think I've been a little warped, but that hasn't bothered me, so I don't worry about it much. I lived in various places in MO and KS until we moved to Torrington, WY when I was five, and I've lived there since, except for four years I spent around 8 out of 12 months in Laramie, WY, because that is where I attended college. Now I'm back at home, living in my parent's basement, and I'm getting ready to move out sometime in the relatively near future.

I have three sisters, Rosha Colleen (25), who Married Scott Allen Carter (25) on June 1, 1996, Sabia Christine (24), who married Joshua Leon Books (24) on February 21, 1998, and Joanna Beth (20) who is a freshman at the Eastern Wyoming Community college . I have three nephews, four-year-old Isaac Benjamin Books and two-year old Timothy Faulkner Books, and almost one year old Maxwell Alexander Carter.

School:

My whole structured education, prior to college, was experienced in Torrington, going from Lincoln Elementary(k-3), Pioneer Elementary(4)(for the last year it was open), Trail Elementary(5)(for the first year it was open), Torrington Middle School(6-8)(where I was the 'top student' in 7th grade), Torrington High School(9-12), and even a bit of Eastern Wyoming College(where I did choir and a couple of English classes). I was in the Gifted and Talented program during elementary school, and in the TALL(Teachers And Learning Leaders--(i.e. gifted and talented)) program in middle school.

I also did a number of other school related activities, including the Spelling bee (7-8), the Herb somebody or other's Math Contest(9-12); High School Debate and Forensics(11-12); the Voice of America contest(12); Track (2 mi., 1 mi., and 2 mi. relay) and Cross-Country running(12); Swimming(11); French club (9-12); I did several school plays and musicals(the Music Man, Brigadoon, South Pacific, Fiddler on the Roof (backstage), Up the Down Staircase, Harvey, Westside Story . . .); And so forth.

I have been a student at the University of Wyoming since Fall of 1995, and am planning on graduating May 8th, 1999 with my BS in Sociology and a minor in Philosophy, as well as with the Honors Program and a pre-Law focus on my diploma. (to correct my mother who seems to think that that I am going to get my BA in Political Science . . . . sorry mom, I've been doing Soc. ever since I got to school here). I have done Debate and other speaking events for 4 years, and have judged several high school competitions and have competed at 3 national tournaments. I have taken the LSAT and scored 163 on it, I plan on taking the GRE sometime so that I can possibly get my Master's in Sociology, but I haven't yet. I went to New York to participate in the National Model United Nations conference as a representative from the Union of Myanmar (used to be Burma). I also did the regional Model United Nations in Denver for the past two years, as first the Republic of Korea(south K.), and second as the Islamic Republic of Iran.

I have been taking a break from school for the past year before I go to law school, which will come after I join the Navy. Meanwhile, I've been a substitute teacher for classes in all subjects, for grades 5-12 here in Goshen County, WY.

Organizations and other activities:

I have been in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and the Order of the Arrow--I got my Arrow of Light, am an Eagle Scout and am a Brotherhood member of OA. I think I am officially an assistant scoutmaster for Troop 26 in Torrington. I am also a senior DeMolay member. I went to the Philmont Scout Ranch and did the Mtn. Man trek a couple of years ago. I was in Campfire when I was younger, I did Ballet and Gymnastics for a while, and attained a Green-Belt with 2 blue stripes in Tae Kwon Doe. I was part of a youth group in Torrington (at Eastside Church of Christ), and have gone to church camp and the Fall Fling and Spring Thing youth rallies in the area as consistently as possible. I've participated in the Campus Ventures group at UW, and went to several bible studies there.

Musically:

I like anything to do with music. My mom tells me that when my sisters were first singing, my parents could tell what they were singing by the words, but with me they could first tell by the music. I've taken several years of piano, and lessons ended right around when High School began(mostly because my piano teacher died, and I did not like to practice). I play mostly by ear, though if given time, I can play from music too. I've played flute since 6th grade, and was in band from 6-12, marching band 9-12, played piccolo 10-12, marched and played for half-time at the Holiday Bowl (94), and really wanted to continue with band in college, but my schedule was prohibitive. I have played with the Recorder, Clarinet, Trombone, Trumpet, French Horn, Drums, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Harmonica, Jaw Harp, Didgeridoo, and quite a few other instruments.

I have been in the school choir since I was really little, did show choir for 2 years in high school, sang with the college community choir for a couple of years during high school, have been in several musicals, toured with the New Way Singers(a high-school audition group sent out in the summer by Nebraska Christian College)(94&95), sang with the WY All-State Choir (94&95). I sang with the UW Vocal Jazz group for 1 1/2 years, the University Singers for four years (even singing at Carnegie Hall in 98), and a Gospel Choir there at UW. I am currently singing with the EWC Community Chorus, and have been for the past year. My vocal range is right around three octaves, and I have sung everywhere from bass to mid-alto.

I listen to all types of music, ranging from classical to rap, Christian metal to country, reggae to punk to easy listening to ska. I enjoy quite a wide variety of music, but about a third of my collection is from Christian artists.

I really enjoy dancing, and have taken several ballroom dance classes here at UW. I can fake basically whatever step you might want, and I pick up different styles fairly quickly, especially if my partner knows what she's doing. I like to tango, waltz, rumba, swing, etc., and just wish I had more friends who also knew how. I think that dancing is the perfect form of exercise, and I'm not talking about aerobics (and one, and two, and one . . .).

Life in General:

Like I said before, I got a BS degree in Sociology and a minor in Philosophy. In the past year, I have been taking a break from school and am really ready to be back doing something(specifically, the Navy, or some other full-time job). I like to read, and have gotten quite a bit of that done in the past year. I've also watched a whole lot of movies so that my ex-roommate can't keep saying "nevermind" to me(inside joke). My favorite movie is 'Tank Girl' with a close second to "the Matrix" and my favorite color is Purple. My ultimate goal is to become a justice on the supreme court, and in order to get there I need to become a lawyer first. My main form of transportation is an '82 Ford Bronco named "Buttercup", though I've been cycling and running a lot more since I need to be in better shape for the Navy. I don't have a steady girlfriend, and I don't plan on getting married for another 6 or 7 years. That is related to my philosophy on life, if you want to check it out.

Places I have Been and Things I have done:

San Diego(with my high school band); New York City (with the UW choir and the UW model UN team); Vancouver (BC), Houston, Salt Lake City and San Francisco (with the Debate team); Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, S. Dakota(with New Way Singers); Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, New Jersey and the state of Confusion. I have flown in a two-seater plane once, on a charter plane twice (to and from San Diego), on commercial planes eight times (to and from NY twice, to Vancouver via San Francisco (where we switched planes) and back). I have been to Mt. Rushmore, I have seen the Grand Canyon (from a plane), I have been to Sea World and Disneyland, I have driven across both Nebraska and Texas (which are two of the worst states to drive across, ever).

I have lived in Wyoming since I was five, and have never been to Yellowstone, though I did finally make it to Devil's Tower in 99. Also, I've never been skiing (except for once in my front yard with some x-country skis I got for Christmas one year). I have been in Central Park (NYC) at night, I went to 'hell' Easter Sunday Morning (around 3:30 am)(it's a gay bar in Greenwich Village), I held my breath all the way from New York to New Jersey (through the 2 mile tunnel). One April 1st I sent out an e-mail to my family telling them that I was engaged to be married in a year and a half, and got a lot of flak about it. I have been skinny-dipping, I shaved my head when my hair was about two feet long, when I was 16, I shaved the sides of my head and biked 20 miles, sun-burning the shaved area. I helped both of my sisters and their husbands move, one right after the other, about 1500 miles in opposite directions, in the span of a month.

Work History(volunteer and paid):

I was a church janitor when I was younger, delivered newspapers through middle school and high school, worked at the newspaper office in Torrington briefly, worked at the movie theater in Torrington, was a church camp counselor, a Boy Scout Camp Counselor for two years (as the archery instructor first and the 'assistant camp ranger' second), baby-sat several different people, was a Sunday-school teacher for a year, taught VBS, worked at UW as a computer lab assistant, was a substitute teacher, a Program Coordinator for High School Institute at UW, and I've been helping my grandpa remodel the church building.
